Chattanooga Volkswagen Factory Environmental Commitment

The decision to begin production of the ID.4 in the VW Chattanooga factory will ultimately end the production of the Passat at the plant to ensure there’s enough room for the ID.4.

As the entire company and President and CEO, Scott Keogh is committed to preparing for the age of electric vehicles, the Volkswagen Academy within the Chattanooga plant have started transforming its vocational training program to include new courses that focus on EV technology such as high-voltage batteries, parts, and aluminum welding techniques. At the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, the technicians will learn how to weld with rubber on an aluminum frame vs. welding with steel.

Volkswagen is investing $800 million into their EV assembly line to decrease and help limit their own carbon emissions and carbon footprints of many Stoughton drivers.
